About

As an art director and biomedical illustrator at the MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation, Betsy works collaboratively to produce high-quality and effective visuals in the development of online biomanufacturing courses. These courses have been taken by thousands of learners worldwide and help to meet the demand for a well-trained biomanufacturing workforce.

For the course Making Biologic Medicines for Patients: The Principles of Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, Betsy not only created over 300 illustrations, but also coordinated with content developers and video editors to develop and review storyboards, oversaw and reviewed the work of contract animators, and co-managed video project planning to produce and launch the course (which featured over 60 animated videos) within 1 year.

For the course Making a Cell Therapy: Principles and Practice of Manufacturing, Betsy coordinated with an interdisciplinary team from academia and industry to develop over 200 unique illustrations and supporting graphics within 1 year. She also spearheaded the creation of and developed the 3D assets for the MIT Cell Therapy Manufacturing Virtualization Lab, a virtual laboratory designed to help students learn the steps, equipment, and procedures of manufacturing cell therapies.

In addition to supporting the development of online classes, Betsy also creates graphics to support MIT CBI’s and its collaborators’ scientific publications, grant proposals, presentations, and promotional materials. Her services include illustrations, journal covers, 3D graphics, animations, and graphic and web design.
